The Salis Flying Museum: plunge into the history of aviation in an extraordinary museum.

In Cerny, in the Essonne region of France, immerse yourself in collections that are unique in the world: welcome to the Salis Flying Museum, a must-see for all aviation enthusiasts.

Via the Chemin des Fourneaux, located on theCerny/La Ferté-Alais airfield, the Salis Flying Museum is one of the most unusual museums in the Essonne department, and with good reason: with its unique collections, it focuses on historic aircraft and other collectors' models.

Managed by SALIS AVIATION and named after the man (Jean-Baptiste Salis) who created theCerny airfield, the museum's collections are restored on site by volunteers, including those from the eponymous amicale. Their aim? To repair the aircraft and get them into flying condition before learning to fly certain models. " It takes at least two years to repair a plane," explains Jean Briez, vice-president of the amicale, "but here, the planes are all in flying condition. That 's why we call it the 'flying museum'. Planes that will be flying at the site's major annual event: the Temps des Hélices, organized by the Amicale Jean-Baptiste Salis (AJBS), a huge aerial gathering featuring over 6 hours of shows in the air, including the Patrouille de France.

Among the rich collections of the Salis Flying Museum are numerous models that served in the various world wars: These include Russian planes flown by the Night Witches, the Russian women who attacked German lines, as well as a replica of the Blériot that crossed the English Channel for the first time in 1909 (with Louis Blériot on board), and a replica of the Caudron GIII that crossed the Andes, flown for the first time in history by a woman, Adrienne Bollant... Not forgetting the Skyraider, a model that left its mark on the Vietnam War, or the many aircraft used in the 14-18 War. In all, more than 100 aircraft are housed on the museum's premises, some 50 of which are visible to the general public.

Whether you're an aviation enthusiast or not, the collections offer a fun visit suitable for everyone, from the very young to the very old. What's more, the Flying Museum attracts more than just aviation enthusiasts: it also appeals to the world of cinema, as many directors have chosen to shoot certain scenes here: As des As (by Gérard Oury, with Jean-Paul Belmondo), Femmes de l'Ombre (by Jean-Paul Salomé), de la ^7e compagnie (by Robert Lamoureux)...

Throughout the year, a company also offers first flights on site, aboard one of Aero Vintage Academy's aircraft, starting at €295 per passenger on board.
