Located in the Vallée de Chevreuse, the Château de Breteuil is often a favorite with young children, and for good reason: the wax figures and decorations illustrate many of Charles Perrault's best-known fairy tales. Cinderella, Puss in Boots, Bluebeard, Peau d'Âne... All classics that have been told to generations of children.
Families flock here all year round to admire the fairy-tale decor, get lost in the garden maze, or appreciate this furnished château that has stood the test of time.
From September 15 to November 14, 2025, there's one more reason to visit this magnificent château in the Yvelines region again and again. The monument is hosting a brand-newexhibition , organized in conjunction with Les Arts et Traditions Populaires.
This French federation, whose aim is to preserve and promote French traditions in all départements, has already organized events at the Château de Breteuil, including a parade of traditional folk costumes.
This time, it's an exhibition that can be discovered along the castle's tour route. The rooms feature antique costumes. Each costume recounts a little piece of French folklore. From Brittany to the Basque country, via Alsace and Auvergne, the history and culture of the French regions is told through these costumes.
