Do you dream of going on board the schooner Tara? Would you like to find out more about this famous scientific vessel? Good news, because the sailing ship is currently moored in Paris! 10 years after her stopover in the capital for the COP 21, Tara is back on the Seine to meet Parisians for a month.
From September 6 to October 5, 2025, Tara will be on the Alexandre III Bridge, at the foot of the Grand Palais, for a series of free public visits on board ( reservation required). These tours, lasting around 30 minutes, will take place exclusively on weekends and outside on Tara's deck"to discover life on board and the scientific research conducted by the Tara Ocean Foundation", it is explained.
For this return to the Seine in Paris, a quayside exhibition is also on offer, as part of the "Photo Climat" event directed by Yun Faillard. Entitled"Fragments : une dérive arctique en six saisons", this exhibition plunges visitors into the heart of the Arctic, through an illustrated journey presenting the future missions of the Tara Polar Station. This new scientific polar station has been designed by the Foundation"to study the upheavals underway in the Arctic Ocean over the next 20 years".
The schooner Tara, designed in 1989, was bought by Agnès b. and her son Etienne Bourgois in 2003, before being donated to the foundation they created together. Considered to be France's first charitable foundation dedicated to the ocean, the Tara Océan Foundation conducts scientific expeditions to study marine biodiversity and understand the impacts of climate change and pollution, while raising public awareness.
After this stopover in Paris, Tara will return to Lorient, Brittany, before setting off at the end of the year on her 14th scientific expedition to the Coral Triangle.
