The Espace Richaud is celebrating 400 years of the French Navy with an exhibition dedicated to the works of the official painters of the Navy. Running from November 19, 2025, to May 3, 2026, the exhibition "Les Peintres de la Marine" invites the public to discover the maritime world from an artistic and historical perspective.

Immerse yourself in a world where art meets maritime adventure...The Espace Richaud invites the public on an immersive journey to the heart of the seas and oceans alongside the French Navy. From November 19, 2025, to May 3, 2026, the exhibitionLes Peintres de la Marine, œuvres récentes (Marine Painters, Recent Works) highlights the workof contemporary artists who explore and interpret the maritime world.

The Official Painters of the Navybelong to a French institution founded in 1830, heir to an artistic tradition initiated under Louis XIII and Richelieu. Their mission is to illustrate, document, and transmit the daily life, missions, and exploits of the French Navy, regularly accompanying sailors in the field.

For this exhibition, the Espace Richaud in Versailles has broughttogether 21 contemporary artists. Painters, sculptors, designers, photographers, and ceramists reveal their vision and experience of the world of the Navy through a variety of works dating from the last 15 years.

These artists draw inspiration from the marine world, its landscapes, and those who work there. The works depict everything from sailing boats to high-tech submarines and helicopters. Visitors can enjoy a colorful world and images where blue stretches to infinity. Some works are very realistic and seem more documentary in nature, while others are highly artistic.
