Every year, as part of the Senate's cultural programming, the fences of the Luxembourg Garden host a public outdoor photography exhibition. This year, the spotlight is on the work of photographer Thibault Gerbaldi. Mark your calendars for March 21 to July 19, 2026, and head to the 6th arrondissement in Paris to explore his striking images.
This new free photographic installation, titled "Fragilities & Resilience", will showcase 80 large-format photographs (120 × 180 cm), captured across five continents.
Thibault Gerbaldi's first solo exhibition in France, "Fragilities & Resiliences", will showcase images of icebergs cracking apart, shifting dunes, volcanic landscapes, and coastlines shaped by the passage of time. These evocative scenes invite viewers on a visual journey and highlight a nature in constant flux. Confronted with these natural transformations and delicate balances, the exhibition also aims to shed light on the resilience of cultures facing climate change, social upheaval, and demographic shifts.
Photographs serve as a lasting link between people and their environments, while also prompting us to rethink the concept of vulnerability. They aim to uncover the strength found in ingenuity, transmission, and resilience. “My goal through this project is to encourage a calm reflection on fragility and resilience, challenge our preconceived notions, and deepen our perspective. I seek images that resonate as much as they are seen, leaving space for each viewer to interpret in their own way,” explains Thibault Gerbaldi in a statement.
