Comic book artist Enki Bilal is set to open his own art space in the Marais district come June 2026. Serving as both a gallery and studio, the venue will be a backdrop for creative expression and a hub for visitors alike.

For over 40 years, Enki Bilal has been a familiar presence both in bookstores and in museums. This French artist, of Yugoslavian heritage, has captivated audiences with his distinctive universe of science fiction, which explores questions of the past as well as the future. Bilal regularly delves into themes such as memory, climate change, religious obscurantism, human evolution, and the human body...

He is the creator of numerous comics, as well as films, TV series, and stage productions. His work has been showcased at the Louvre, the Museum of Arts and Crafts, and the Musée de l'Homme, among other art galleries... Come summer 2026, Enki Bilal is once again taking on a new challenge.

The artist opens the Enki Bilal Collection in the Marais district of Paris. This newly established museum exhibition space will focus on the painter and author’s works: visitors can explore his creations, as well as enjoy temporary, themed exhibitions. According to Arts in the City, this collection will serve as a creative laboratory, where contemporary art in all its forms takes center stage. Painting, drawing, video, installation — everything is welcome, as long as the piece reflects on our society and its potential futures.

According to the art magazine, this new space is also expected to host international artists, likely through temporary exhibitions.

Details about the Enki Bilal Collection remain scarce for now. The space is scheduled to open to the public in the summer of 2026, possibly in June, in the Marais district. An important retrospective exhibition showcasing Enki Bilal’s work will kick off the opening of this new venue.

Will the space charge an entry fee or be free to visit? Is it a temporary installation or a permanent exhibit? More details are expected to be announced soon — stay tuned to Sortiraparis.com for the latest updates.
