For over 40 years, Enki Bilal has been a familiar presence both in bookstores and in museums. This French artist, of Yugoslavian heritage, has captivated audiences with his distinctive universe of science fiction, which explores questions of the past as well as the future. Bilal regularly delves into themes such as memory, climate change, religious obscurantism, human evolution, and the human body...
He is the creator of numerous comics, as well as films, TV series, and stage productions. His work has been showcased at the Louvre, the Museum of Arts and Crafts, and the Musée de l'Homme, among other art galleries... Starting June 11, 2026, Enki Bilal takes on an exciting new challenge.
The artist is opening the Enki Bilal Collection in the Marais district of Paris. This groundbreaking museum exhibition space will showcase the painter and author's works, allowing visitors to explore his creations firsthand. In addition, it will host temporary thematic exhibits. The Collection is dedicated to contemporary art, comics, and street art. According to Arts in the City, this space will serve as a creative laboratory where contemporary art in all its forms takes center stage. Whether it's painting, drawing, video, or installation art — all approaches are welcome, provided they delve into society and explore possible futures.
The space is set to host not only temporary exhibitions but also panel discussions, screenings, book signings, and meet-and-greet events... French and international artists will actively engage with this venue, showcasing their works and organizing exhibitions to enrich the cultural scene.
The detailed opening schedule has yet to be announced. This space is scheduled to open its doors to the public on June 11, 2026, on Charlot Street in the Marais district. A retrospective exhibition showcasing Enki Bilal's work is set to inaugurate the venue, running through September 2026.
This new space is expected to become a permanent fixture in the area. Entrance to the exhibitions will require a ticket, though the specific pricing details have not yet been announced.
