The Musée d'Orsay honors a number of craftspeople at the Journées des Métiers d'Arts, from April 3 to 6, 2025.
The Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art takes place every spring. The aim of this cultural event is to highlight the skills of craftsmen and women, and the many professions involved in preserving and promoting our heritage.
These JEMA events open the doors to various workshops, monuments, museums and art venues. Through visits and workshops, the general public can meet craftspeople, discover their trade, and even take part in creative activities!
From April 3 to 6, 2025, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris invitesyou to join professionals from the wood, fashion, watchmaking, stone and crystal industries for four exceptional days... The famous museum's aim is to showcase both its rich and varied collections, and the expertise that went into creating such masterpieces. Visitors can gain a better understanding of how these objets d'art were made, and - perhaps - discover a new passion or vocation.
Here's what's in store at the Musée d'Orsay during the Journées des Métiers d'Art 2025. Don't miss the nocturne on Thursday April 3, during which art historians and restorers reveal the secrets of the works in the Art Nouveau galleries.
The JEMA 2025 program at the Musée d'Orsay includes:
- A tribute to the decorative arts of the Art Nouveau period
Throughout the event, the decorative arts collections of the Art Nouveau period will be showcased through "Point-Parole" presentations led by mediators. These presentations will shed new light on these emblematic works and the know-how that shaped them.
- An evening event dedicated to JEMA
On Thursday April 3, the museum will remain open until 9:45pm. Art historians and restorers will be on hand to welcome visitors to the Art Nouveau rooms on the middle level, to extend their discovery of fine craftsmanship through the great names of Belgian and French Art Nouveau, and to share the story of some of the masterpieces in the collections, which bear witness to exceptional skills and singular artistic paths. The restorers, specialized in the fields of fire art and frames, will present their craft and the works they have worked on.
- Meetings and discussions with tour guides
Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover these treasures in the company of tour guides, present in the rooms on the middle level on Saturday April 5 and Sunday April 6, from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00.
