From 16 to 18 October 2026, the National Architecture Days invite us to discover the Île-de-France region through a program of tips and activities. This major public event invites curious minds and enthusiasts to view our everyday landscapes with a fresh perspective, to understand the construction secrets behind our environment, and to step inside innovative realizations. At the heart of the famous park of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris (CIUP), this contemporary building demonstrates how collective housing is reinventing the city of tomorrow.
Delivered in 2018 by the Bruther architectural firm, this student house bears the name of the first woman to earn a baccalaureate in France in 1861. The building embodies sustainable, biosourced contemporary architecture, a current that prioritizes renewable materials, industrial prefabrication, and a high level of energy efficiency. Perched on slender concrete stilts to free the ground, the structure features a robust framework in solid timber, rhythmically punctuated by wide glass façades and an innovative acoustic facade that shields occupants from the din of cars.
Guided tour of the Julie-Victoire Daubié Residence
On the occasion of the 2026 National Architecture Days, the Cité internationale invites you to a guided tour of the Résidence Julie-Victoire Daubié. This walk will focus on the building’s communal spaces.
Along the park edge and visible from the ring road, the Julie-Victoire Daubié residence presents “a compact footprint,” in the form of a “split cube, as tall as it is wide.” This mass of exposed concrete and glass is divided into three slabs, with the sides housing the 106 homes, while the central portion holds the communal areas and circulation routes.
This building has won two architectural prizes. It is a finalist in the Habitat category of the Equerre d’Argent, the AMC & Moniteur 2018 architecture prize, and secured the Grand Prix d’architecture from the magazine D’A.
