Like many others, we love castles: exploring their architecture and history, wandering through their gardens, admiring the works of art they contain... But what truly captivates us is imagining who might have walked this ground before us. Who were these noble figures? What did they look like? If only history could come alive right before our eyes...
While time machines haven't been invented yet, you can still get a fascinating glimpse into life in the 19th century! Once again this year, Monte-Cristo Castle will host its renowned historic costume day on Sunday, June 28, 2026, starting at 2 p.m.
On this beautiful afternoon, actors from Ankreation and artists from Le Temps des Danses wander through the Château and residence of Monte-Cristo, dressed in stunning 19th-century costumes in the fashion of Dumas. During your visit, you may unexpectedly encounter these characters from another era, and even watch short theatrical scenes. Sometimes, the actors might also come over for a quick chat with visitors, inviting us even more into this enchanting journey through time.
This day gives us the opportunity to re-enact the grand hours ofAlexandre Dumas, who loved to entertain and entertain his guests in his carefully tended estate and gardens. The costume day is an opportunity to admire the architecture of the Port-Marly château , as well as the fine period costumes worn by the actors, who immerse us in the social events of the 19th-century artistic elite.
And of course, you're all welcome to join the fun by coming dressed up as well! Shall we meet at Mr. Dumas's place?
