Garden Festival 2026 at the Climate Academy: workshops, a botanical walk, and family activities

The Festival of Gardens returns to Paris on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2026 to showcase urban nature in all its forms. For one weekend, parks, squares, gardens and several venues committed to greening welcome people of all ages around free activities. The event offers families a chance to meet the professionals who tend Paris’s green spaces and to discuss biodiversity in practical, tangible terms.

Gardening, practical workshops, walks, games, botanical discoveries and encounters punctuate these two days across the city’s boroughs. Gardeners, arborists and associations share their knowledge with the public, while children can learn to identify plants, observe small wildlife, or get their hands dirty in the soil. A playful way to understand how a garden works and how natureFinds its place in an urban environment.

The event also offers a chance to explore how green spaces are adapting to climate change, the protection of species, and the practical steps we can take at home. You don’t need a garden: a balcony, a courtyard, a windowsill, or even a small pot can become a testing ground for aspiring gardeners.

Situated in the former town hall of 4e arrondissement, place Baudoyer, the Académie du Climat takes part in the celebration on Sunday, September 27, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. This municipal venue dedicated to environmental issues regularly hosts talks, workshops and events around climate and the ecological transition.

For this day, much of the programming takes place right on the Baudoyer Square. And there’s plenty to keep children busy: planting activities for kids as young as 7, jewelry making from age 5, TV game‑show style games from 8, a look at species from Île-de-France, and a kamishibai storytelling performance. Older kids, starting at 10, can even learn how to make jam or imagine turning a small urban space into a vegetable garden.
