Montrouge: a free street art exhibition, November 28 to December 3

From Saturday November 28, Montrouge opens the retrospective exhibition of the Hublot, an urban art project that has been emblematic of the town since 2022.

At its head is Lucas Nadel, one of the two street artists in the Noty Aroz duo. At the end of 2022, he painted Le Hublot's very first mural, 5 metres in diameter and 10 metres high, which has since been covered by new frescoes every two months or so.

Place de la mairie de Montrouge, on the gable wall at 47 avenue de la République, a large greyish wall displays a particularly colorful fresco, followed by another, another and another... Since late 2022, Montrouge has been the canvas of talented street artists, who have come especially to paint a fresco as part of Hublot, an urban art project where frescoes are visual, but above all, sonic. "Each fresco is accompanied by a sound creation, accessible with a giant QR code that you just have to flash," explains Lucas Nadel, the man behind the project. In your ears, you'll sometimes find experimental music, sometimes podcasts created from interviews... This makes the Hublot a unique creation, as it is the very first ephemeral street art wall with sound.

In total, Le Hublot has two cycles, each of which has seen several murals appear at 47 avenue de la République, on the respective themes of mythology and spirituality. "The artists selected to be part of the project have a particularly relevant approach to these themes, through their approach to their art," explains Lucas Nadel. They include Théo Haggaï, Olivia de Bona, Luca Ledda, Poes & Jo Ber, Kid Kreol and Boogie, Rouge Hartley and Jérôme Rasto.

To celebrate this year-long experiment in the inner suburbs of Paris, the Hublot retrospective exhibition will run from November 28 to December 3, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., at La Distillerie, a former Protestant temple that Montrouge town council has transformed into a cultural venue. During the exhibition, you can also take part in creative workshops for children and adults, guided tours of the retrospective, round-table discussions and concerts on special evenings. The entire program is free of charge, except for the workshops! A wonderful exhibition to discover in Montrouge, from November 28 to December 3, 2023.
