Festival de l'Air 2025 in Montesson (78): hot-air ballooning, kites and free concert in October

The town of Montesson (Yvelines 78) will take to the skies for the 5th edition of the Festival de l'Air, free and open to all, on Saturday October 4, 2025. Between kites, hot-air balloons and aerial animations, young and old will (re)discover the town ... with their heads in the clouds.

Ready for take-off? On Saturday, October 4, 2025, Montesson (Yvelines 78) welcomes all dreamers and the curious to the 5th edition of the Festival de l'Air. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Petits Chênes stadium will be transformed into a veritable runway. Free of charge and open to all, the event is a breath of fresh air and an invitation to take a look at the town... with your head in the clouds!

Organized by the city as part of its trilogy of elements - Earth in May, Water in June and Air in October - the festival celebrates an area shaped by nature. After water, it's on to air: here, the plain, the neighborhoods and the Seine are revealed from an unprecedented angle.

Created in 2021, the festival pays tribute to Montesson's rich aeronautical heritage. Indeed, the history of aviation here dates back to 1906! That year, Count Henry Deutsch de la Meurthe bought the former ballastière and the airfield on the plain. Between 1906 and 1909, several airships took to the skies over Montesson. In 1908, Traian Vuia achieved a world first when he took off the first motorized flying machine with a pilot on board. A technological revolution that contributed to the rise of aviation.
Today, kites, hot-air balloons and wing-giving animations bring back these memories... but in a poetic and festive version.

Baptism of the Air in a hot-air balloon in the colors of Montesson
From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
The Town Hall offers you a baptism of the air! It's a captive flight 40 meters above the ground. Guaranteed thrills and a breathtaking panorama.
(Flights may be cancelled or temporarily suspended in the event of inclement weather.)
Kite workshop
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A stand run by the CAVM (Comité d'Animation de la Ville de Montesson) will enable youngsters (aged 4 and over) to personalize their own kite! If you don't have one, don't worry, you can buy one on site! For a few moments, the synthetic soccer pitch will become their favorite... flying field!
Giant soap bubble shows
10.00am to 5.00pm
The ébullitions collective will be adding a touch of poetry throughout the day. Demonstration of giant soap bubbles, followed by a soap bubble workshop for children (aged 3 and up) and adults.
Jardin du vent
From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
on the stadium's main field, come and admire an exhibition of weather vanes and multiple flights of acrobatic, signalling and artistic kites.
Free concert (l'Estival)
From 3:00 p.m.
