Nature Festival 2026: free workshops for children and a tour of the Archéosite

On Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24, 2026, the Nature Festival is coming to Neuilly-sur-Marne. The program features workshops, thematic visits, and free activities, set inside the Haute-Île Park and the Archéosite.

The Fête de la Nature 2026 is back from May 20 to 25, 2026 across France. For its 20th edition, this national gathering invites people of all ages to rediscover biodiversity through outings, workshops, free observations and encounters.

The event is geared toward families, walkers, environmental enthusiasts, and visitors who want to deepen their understanding of local living beings. It’s less suited for those seeking a paid, strictly closed, or highly supervised outing.

On the agenda: nature-watching outings, wildlife observations, activities around forests and living soils, educational workshops for children and adults. Launched in 2007, the Nature Festival focuses on direct experience: seeing, listening, touching and understanding natural environments, in the city as in the countryside.

In the Seine-Saint-Denis department, the town of Neuilly-sur-Marne showcases the charming Parc de la Haute-Île, a natural space spanning 65 hectares with numerous walking trails, birdwatching posts, and inviting playgrounds for kids... Within the park, you’ll also find the Archéosite. Planed as an open-air museum, this site recreates the daily life of our prehistoric ancestors; a range of workshops is offered on open days.

Sketch Walk

May 23, 2026, 2:00–4:00 PM

Set off to discover the park on a creative stroll. During this walk, punctuated by moments of observation, you’ll have the chance to explore the varied landscapes of these grounds by sketching, keeping a keen eye on things, and weaving short nature-inspired stories.

Nature-Focused Reading Workshop

May 23, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

In the heart of the park, librarians from Neuilly-sur-Marne’s ludo‑médiathèque invite you to a nature‑themed reading workshop. Engaging readings around the story mat “The Tree of a Thousand Colors” and moments of imagination will shape the afternoon. Children can also draw or color a tree in the hues of their favorite season.

Visit to the Apiary

May 23, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Discover the apiary at Haute-Île Park as part of Nature Festival days! Guided by a beekeeper, explore the fascinating world of bees, their vital role in biodiversity, and how a hive operates. An informative tour to deepen your understanding of these essential pollinators, organized by SCA volunteers.

Meet at the Welcome stand on the playground area (closest access via the park’s parking lot from Avenue Jean-Jaurès).
Mandatory attire: trousers, closed-toe shoes, knee- or ankle-high socks, and no perfume.

Park Visit and Nature Workshop

May 23, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Join a guided tour of Haute-Île Park to explore its landscapes, ecological challenges, and the richness of its biodiversity.

Nature and Heritage Walk

May 24, 2026, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Set off to discover the park’s history, its wildlife and flora on a captivating guided tour led by Jacky Libaud, a licensed guide and lecturer.

Community workshop: a pirogue on Haute-Île

Let's carve a pirogue together, like in prehistoric times, with an axe and plenty of elbow grease! And discover the navigation methods that may have helped ancient populations reach Haute-Île.

The tour winds through the park’s various zones and ends at the archaeosite, where additional Nature Festival activities await.
