Following along the Rémarde, the Parc de l'Aleu offers a bucolic interlude, a moment out of time, sitting on the lawns bordering thefishing pond. The park was designed by Jean-Charles Alphand and landscaped by Monsieur Sicre, a Parisian pharmacist who also owned the park until 1934. It wasn't until 1971 that the Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines town council acquired the park, which now covers an area of 4.5 hectares.
On site, the highlight will undoubtedly be the walk along the Rémarde river or the tour of the Etang d'Aleu on foot. Peaceful and bucolic, this fishing pond is a veritable reservoir of biodiversity, where you can spot herons, frogs, green-necked ducks... Cross the Rémarde on the little wooden bridges, share a family picnic on the picnic tables, read a book on the banks...
Parc de l'Aleu is on the GR655, the route to Santiago de Compostela from Paris via Tours (also known as the Via Turonesis). The park is open to all, all the time, all year round. A very pleasant walk not to be missed, if you're in the area!
