According to the provisional timetable, the first stretch of the line 18 of the Grand Paris Express will welcome its first travelers in the autumn of 2026. Until then, some construction sites continue while others wrap up. This is particularly the case on the Saclay plateau. Just a few months ahead of the opening of the first segment of line 18, from Christ de Saclay to Massy – Palaiseau, work is finishing for the Université Paris-Saclay, Polytechnique and Christ de Saclay stations. These three stations are notable for being elevated. It’s worth noting that the line 18 will feature a 14 km elevated section between Palaiseau and Saclay, made possible by the construction of a 6.7 km viaduct, the longest viaduct in France!
This summer, the Société des Grands Projets, the team behind the design and construction of the Grand Paris Express, has decided to celebrate the completion of these works with a series of festive events. First up: this Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. to explore the Université Paris-Saclay station. The party will continue at the Polytechnique station on Monday, July 6 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The third celebration is scheduled for Thursday, July 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. This time, the Christ de Saclay station will be in the spotlight.
For each of these celebrations, you can enjoy free, self-guided previews of the station in advance, along with remarks from the Société des grands projets and local officials, artistic performances and musical entertainments, or exhibitions about the project, as well as food trucks for a bite to eat. Note that these events are reserved for residents, students, and nearby businesses. Access is free and open, but subject to available space.
