Spectacular viewpoints abound in Paris. Naturally, the iconic Eiffel Tower comes to mind, but so too the Pantheon and the balloon at Parc André-Citroën. And because they’re free, other spots are especially popular with Parisians and visiting travelers alike, such as the jardin Bergeyre, the parc de Belleville, and the famous Sacré-Cœur on Montmartre hill.

But other spots across Île-de-France also offer a stunning, wide view of the City of Light. This is the case at the Terrasse du Fécheray. Nestled in Suresnes in the Hauts-de-Seine, at the foot of Mont-Valérien (rising to 162 meters), the Terrasse du Fécheray lets you take in the towers of La Défense, plus the Iron Lady, the Tour Montparnasse, the Triangle Tower, and the Dôme des Invalides. Much calmer than the Sacré-Cœur, this Île-de-France vantage point provides an open view over Paris and its nearby green lungs, the Bois de Boulogne.
But to reach this small, peaceful corner, you have to climb and scale the dozens of steps that separate the Fécheray terrace from the street of the same name. Alternatively, you can extend your walk by continuing along Fécheray Street to Washington Boulevard to reach the famous panorama.
Once you’ve reached your goal, you can catch your breath and sit on one of the several benches provided, or continue your city visit by heading to the cimetière américain de Suresnes, tucked just across the street.

Besides offering a breathtaking panorama of Paris and the La Défense business district, the Terrasse du Fécheray is easy to reach by public transport.
From La Défense - Grande Arche, simply hop on the ligne L (toward Versailles Rive Droite or Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche Forêt de Marly) or the ligne U (toward La Verrière) of the Transilien and get off at gare de Suresnes - Mont Valérien. It’s a short 4-minute ride, then roughly 7 minutes of walking to reach the terrasse du Fécheray from the station.
