This is the must-attend nature event at the start of June 2024: the Jardin Rendez-vous are making a comeback from May 31 to June 2 across France. For a whole weekend, both public and private gardens will open their doors to visitors, offering guided tours, workshops, and activities — from walks and demonstrations to beginner lessons. Why not take this opportunity to explore the gardens of Paris and Île-de-France, whether with family, friends, a partner, or even solo? This weekend, perhaps?
The Luxembourg Garden is a diverse ensemble of gardens showcasing various styles: located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, it was established in 1612 under the reign of Marie de Medici. The garden features a "French-style" section aligned with the palace, as well as "English-style" areas near Rue Guynemer, along with an orchard. Locals affectionately call it "Luco," and here you can stroll along tree-lined paths, admire sculptures and fountains, or relax on one of the iconic green chairs that dot the garden.
The Senate also manages a collection of greenhouses that serve a dual purpose: cultivating plants to enhance the beauty of the garden and adding floral decoration to the Luxembourg Palace, while also preserving a botanical heritage dating back to the mid-19th century. This collection is maintained by the horticulture school based at the Jardin du Luxembourg. The garden is just as much a delight for children as for adults, offering play areas, rides, puppet shows, and even sailing boats to navigate on the large pond. It’s the perfect place for a charming afternoon outing—without feeling like you're right in the heart of Paris!
