Craving a breath of fresh air in the heart of Nanterre (92)? With strolls along the Seine, sprawling playgrounds, and endless green spaces, everyone—from kids to adults—enjoys a day at Parc du Chemin de l’Île. This urban oasis, proudly awarded the Eve® label, is the perfect blend of relaxation, sport, and nature.

In Nanterre, part of the Hauts-de-Seine (92), the Parc du Chemin de l’Île spans over more than 18 hectares, providing a true green oasis in the heart of the city. Opened in June 2006 and expanded in May 2012, this nature refuge, proudly awarded the Eve® label, combines industrial heritage, scenic walks along the Seine, and recreational areas suitable for visitors of all ages.

Once home to the Papeteries de la Seine in 1903, then sprawling shantytowns and crossed by the RER A train line and the A14 motorway, this site has undergone a remarkable transformation. Today, visitors stroll along paths made from recycled concrete, enjoy lush plantings nourished by homemade mulch, and listen to the soothing sound of water from the Seine, which is pumped and purified to water gardens and green spaces.

For sports enthusiasts and outdoor lovers, the park offers a wide range of facilities: beneath the A14, 2,500 square meters of covered space ready for activity at any time, sports equipment along the riverbanks, street workout platforms, football and basketball courts, and intergenerational modules for children and adults alike. Kids, meanwhile, can climb, jump, and have fun thanks to playgrounds located near Avenue Hoche and the Touradons garden: suspended huts for little climbers, 11-meter-high rope pyramids, zip lines, trampolines, hammocks, and of course, slides and hanging bridges.

And for a breath of fresh air, there's nothing better than the high walk, lined with rowan trees, offering a breathtaking view of the Seine and the city: perfect for strolling, relaxing, or sitting on a bench beneath the trees. Here, nature reigns supreme, with the city spread out at your feet.

The Chemin de l’Île Park, with its blend of nature, play areas, and sports, remains a must-visit urban escape in Nanterre
