No, we (unfortunately) didn't make an express return trip to Australia to go and test the Hardware Société Melbourne... To tell the truth, you just have to go to the 18th arrondissement of the capital, just behind the Sacré Coeur, to discover the Hardware Société Paris, little sister of the Hardware Société Melbourne.
Mad lovers of Paris, Di and Will Keser, the owners of the Australian café, have indeed decided to set up in the capital, in April 2016, importing a wind of freshness, conviviality and greediness made in Oz!
In this cozy café, with its bright and warm decoration, we taste in continuous service dishes that put our taste buds in a tizzy.
And I might as well tell you right away, but at Hardware Société Paris, there is something for everyone. Whether you are sweet or savory, carnivorous, vegetarian or even gluten intolerant, you will find your happiness!
Here, no brunch formula... So don't worry about enjoying a breakfast in the middle of the afternoon or a savory dish as soon as it opens, and this, every day from Wednesday to Monday.
Personally, we recommend one of the house's must-haves, the sensational French toast topped with coffee-infused pear, praline cheesecake and spiced blueberry compote (13.50€). Simply to die for!
Otherwise, opt for the inevitable eggs casserole or the bircher which is composed of poached quince with saffron and vanilla, raspberry compote and pistachios.
If you are more of a savory person, then let yourself be tempted by the grilled mushrooms. This vegetarian dish unveils a pan of mushrooms with herbs, accompanied by Brillat-Savarin cheese, pumpkin bread and eggs cooked at 64 degrees (14,50€).
Also on the menu of this bilingual menu? Pork belly & fried eggs for carnivores or The Great Aussie Chicken Parma (chicken cutlet, ham, crushed tomatoes, home fries and broccoli & cauliflower salad).
To accompany these dishes, the House serves a range of hot drinks. For coffee, the fine team offers Padre coffee - popular in Melbourne - and imported every week from Australia. Hardware Société Paris also uses various French roasters.
In the end, it leaves the choice between the milk coffee by Padre, the unavoidable Latte, Flat White or Cappuccino, but also the cold brew or the home-made chai latte.
For tea fans, succumb to the Matcha Maiden green tea latte. And like any good coffee shop, Hardware Société Paris sublimates our hot drinks thanks to the principle of Latte Art.
The only problem is that once at Hardware Société Paris, we don't want to leave! Besides, on weekends, be patient because there is a queue outside to enter the café, says Marine, the manager.
We tell you, Hardware Société Paris is one of the best cafés-restaurants in the capital, so if you haven't dared to go there yet, run there as soon as possible!
