The French Donuts (formerly Humm... DOnuts) remains a must for American donut lovers. Their round, plump donuts change every month for the curious! The place also doubles as a café, where you can relax and drink a mocha, chai latte or milkshake in Paris's 9th arrondissement.

"Humm un donut!" This famous line from dear Homer Simpson was the original name of this 100% donut tea room at 56 rue la Bruyère. For almost 5 years now, The French Donuts has been offering its delights to lovers of plump, tasty doughnuts. Here, in addition to the classic vanilla, cinnamon or sweet glaze, the pastry chef takes on the challenge of making "ultra donuts", gourmet doughnuts, every month.

During our last visit, in January 2021, there were 11 donuts on the menu, and the specialties of the month were: a donut des rois, with a frangipane glaze, a donut tatin-style, with oven-caramelized apples and chantilly, but also a tropézienne (the donut was topped with a light vanilla cream), a Nutella chamallow and skewers that were too funny and more practical for children to eat. In terms of price, The French Donuts aims to remain affordable. The classic donut costs 3.5 euros, and the ultra 4.5 euros.

To see the current menu, you'll need to scour The French Donuts Insta or Facebook pages . Flour from the mill, PDO butter, brown sugar, the shop window states that the donuts are prepared every morning, one by one, with 0% additives, 0% preservatives. The pastry chef even advises you to reserve the day before for the following day, as donuts go fast in the neighborhood.

The room was closed, but a dozen or so seats usually allow you to enjoy your donut on the spot with a drink. Viennese coffee is 2.90 euros, cappuccino 3.90 euros, chai latte 5 euros and chocolate with whipped cream 6 euros. Fans will also find homemade milkshakes and iced tea!

However, no delivery is possible, as the company has stopped working with platforms. To get these doughnuts, you have to earn them, and you have to travel!
