If you're a burger lover and you've ever been to the USA, then you've probably heard of Umami Burger, or even tasted its sandwiches. Well, good news: after New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, the concept is now exporting across the Atlantic to open its first European address... in Paris.
Head to the Pullman Hôtel Paris Montparnasse to discover this new address that should intrigue burger lovers. Straight from California, this restaurant aims to introduce gourmets toUmami, a Japanese expression that corresponds to one of the five flavors along with sweetness, saltiness, bitterness and acidity. To put it more crudely, it's simply the description of a delicious taste.
The menu features the Umami version of the classic burger with salad, caramelized onions, cheddar and gherkins, ideal for purists, but also more daring recipes such as the Rossini Cheese Burger with its matured beef steak, pan-fried foie gras, black truffle aioli sauce, aged mimolette and fried onions. The latter was our favorite: the pronounced taste of saturated meat and foie gras combine perfectly in a recipe that turns out to be less heavy than it looks, leaving a real pleasure for the palate.
There are 50 shades of French fries to choose from: Cajun or truffle, chili fries or sweet potato fries. We also recommend that you try our Umami tenders, which are crispy on the outside but melt-in-your-mouth on the inside.
We also love the weekend combos, perfect for families with generous offerings. Just make sure you don't bite off more than you can chew! Bonus for milkshake lovers: three recipes to discover: Banana-Matcha, Peanut Butter-Caramel or Chocolate-Marshmallow.
