People who happen to have visited the Bassin d’Arcachon may have heard about Dunes Blanches, these famous cream puffs filled with light cream and created by Pascal Lucas in 2007 in Picquet, Cap-Ferret. You don’t have to travel all the way to the Bassin d’Arcachon since you can discover them in Paris!
But if you don’t know about Dunes Blanches, you may wonder what it is. It’s a fresh chouquette stuffed with whipped cream of which Pascal has the secret. A happy marriage created after a night out and that met success immediately, so much that he registered the trademark in July 2009.
He opens his first mono-product store in 2016 in the golden triangle in Bordeaux. With the success he met, he takes over Arcachon in 2017. It’s now in Paris Marais neighborhood that he’s providing his nice puffs.
We discover a nice store reminding us of the seaside: clear wood, white sand and cordage are there. Don’t expect 150 recipes, there’s only one product and one flavor – excluding on weekends, a temporary flavor is available and announced on Mondays on the facebook page of the place.
We’re currently discovering the temporary flavors created in partnership with Maison Mouton Cadet and its oenologist. We tried the white wine-yuzu version and it was so good.
Puffs are filled on the spot all day long according to orders and to make sure they remain all crispy and fresh. Allow €1.30 per Dune Blanche and €7.20 for 6. The temporary one costs €1.80 on weekends.
