Because you love the Parisian charm of the city's passages, how about having lunch, a drink or even dinner there? Head to Passage Verdeau in Paris 9th arrondissement. Holy, this is the name of the latest cozy canteen-restaurant that opened in lieu of the former Holy Bol restaurant. New owner, new decor, and new menu with Parisian and Thai twists (yes, some of the cooks stayed for regulars' delight).
As for the décor, we shall thank Ateliers Marigny delivering a Chic Bohemian spirit, between sea green, rattan, and wood. The place is welcoming and warm, perfect.
Holy is a place welcoming you all day long. For lunch and dinner, enjoy local and seasonal cuisine. The menu has been created by Chef Gregory Gbiorczyk (L'Interallié, George, Le Bristol, Christian Constant, etc.) and is orchestrated by chef Mehdi Said and his right-hand-man Rayan Vengatasamy, both from Hotel Raphaël (5-star hotel in Paris). And you might think it must be super expensive! Not at all, tired of being often considered as dupes, the owner has decided to provide an affordable menu loyal to the produces served.
Therefore, on the menu stand local produces mostly coming from Île-de-France or France as for meats and fish. The day we came for lunch, we discovered the delicious veggie springrolls based on homemade rice dough. We also fell for the burrata topping fresh cucumber and mint gazpacho.
Moving on to main courses, we went for the Crispy chicken and crunchy vegetables served with rice, and the Crispy fish version based on cod, curry sauce, and spinach salad.
As for desserts, there is nothing screaming Paris more than flan, is it? With a dash of salted caramel for the indulging touch, this is good. Craving something fresh? Go for the plate of red berries served with tasty green tea ice cream.
As for a pre-dinner drink, go for Emilie and Andrew's cocktails. At Holy, everything is homemade, from tonics to syrups. Go for the lovely creations made by the complementary duo.
We love the atmosphere of the passage that kept its charm over the years. Please yet note it is set within the Galerie Verdeau and the passage closes at 9 p.m. Yet, no problem if you arrive or leave past this time, a secret code will be given to you.
