Jacopo is Alex Bril and Benjamin Artis’ latest project, they are entrepreneurs fond of the Golden Triangle where they already own the cocktail bar and restaurant Yeeels and Le Baron. A stone’s throw from the Champs-Elysées and the chic Drugstore, Fouquet’s and Miss Ko, Jacopo has become – in a few weeks only – THE place to eat in the Champs-Elysées.
Jacopo has everything to please: open non-stop every day from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m., simple and affordable cuisine by Top Chef Thibault Sombardier and sophisticated décor with blue velvet armchairs and tables with a golden trim by NB Studio!
“A super cool and very affordable cooking”
Deviled eggs (€5), lentil and snails salad (€7.5), leeks and vinaigrette (€4.5), terrine (€6), veal stew (€16.5), beef cheek (€17) to accompany with French fries for €3, Marengo veal chunks (€16), poultry supreme and grand-mother’s sauce for €14.50, rum baba and floating island with rose praline for €6, Thibault Sombardier’s menu is perfect with its rates especially for the neighborhood. The same goes for the wine list with glasses between €5 and €7 and bottles between €25 and €85 (for an Haute-Côte de Beaune “Clos Perrière”)!
This “return to the roots” is very much liked if we believe the local canteens like Jacopo that pop out everywhere in Paris. And what about quality? Spread the word, it’s not a high-end cuisine (Thibault Sombardier already has his 1 Michelin star restaurant – Antoine – with a lunch menu for (€48), but Jacopo dishes are tasty, the plates hearty and sophisticated but some revisits are very surprising. We really loved the egg, yes, the egg, worked several ways and served with a mayonnaise as light as a cloud, and we also loved the floating island served in a bowl to drink the custard up (!) The only downside is that waiters don’t say that meats are served with no side dish…
Jacopo secret bar (and smoking room)
From Tuesday to Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., will you dare loose your way in Jacopo basement. At the back of the kitchen, a hidden bar, like a speakeasy, expects you: leather sofas, wooden furniture, available pool and even a smoking area, it’s the chill moment of the night.
Barmen create nice cocktails, not too heavy: Cache-Cache with rum, homemade Velvet Falernum, homemade fireball and homemade ginger cordial, Rosemary with Vodka Grey Gosse, homemade rosemary syrup, lemon juice, cucumber, fever tree tonic Water, between €12 to €16. No inspiration? Barmen are miracle-makers: for €13 they create a cocktail that is just for you!
Jacopo is an ideal address in Paris: a stylized décor, an accepted cooking and prices that are so small we forgive the queue and the slow service. Perfect for dinner, don’t expect to have lunch in 30 minutes!
