Set a stone’s throw from the Champs-Elysées, we found the restaurant that has just opened. A healthy, good and most of all super affordable restaurant. Think: starters from €6 to €12, main dishes from €13 to €18 and desserts from €5 to €7 and a lunch menu for €19.90. what a dream for this neighborhood, right? The name of this good address is Lily Wood set in rue de Ponthieu! Inside, midnight blue walls and velvet armchairs expect you. Everything is made with taste. And the menu is just as inspiring.
As a starter, we go for the salmon tartare and yuzu, seaweed and puffed rice that’s just super crispy (€12) and a red cabbage salad, orange segments, candied yuzu peels, cucumber, orange blossom (€7). The salad, in addition to be refreshing, is a true feast for the eyes because of how colorful it is. On the menu too, a burrata, roasted pink radishes, zucchini tagliatelle, fresh herb vinaigrette, raspberries (€12à or deviled eggs with tuna, fresh herbs, capers and olives, mesclun (€6). It’s up to you!
Moving on to main dishes… We have a sea bream, artichoke heart, candied lemon, black rice, roasted cherry tomatoes (€15), yellow poultry from Bresse leg and thigh candied with spices, seasonal green vegetables, meat juice, white rice (€18) and the healthy salad of the moment with buckwheat soba, steamed broccolis, roasted carrots, soy beans, smoked tofu with honey and mild spices, roasted radishes (€13).
As for us, we went for the flank steak, green and yellow zucchini crumble, parmesan, turmeric, wasabi mayonnaise (but you can also order a curry mayonnaise, if you’re note really into wasabi) for €18. What a big surprise that this zucchini crumble is, it’s simply delicious. And then, we also order the duck breast tataki, red cabbage kimchi, green melon, seasonal vegetables, homemade mashed potatoes with spices and wakame (€18) served with a smoked hummus, surprising (but excellent!).
For dessert, one doesn’t negotiate with Lily Wood rules betting on healthy and tasty produces. We find desserts that are mainly fruity. Let’s choose: artisanal ice creams (€5 for two flavors), a light pavlova, whipped coconut cream, seasonal fruits, hazelnuts, olive oil, pink salt (€6), roasted apricots, basil oil, raw cream and super delicate thyme ice cream (€5) and a mango, passion fruit tiramisu, the dessert of the day!
