Want to feel like you're in Vietnam? We've tracked down a great Vietnamese restaurant in Paris's 13th arrondissement, and we're sure you'll be telling us all about it. Typical dishes, a beautiful space, we tell you all about it.

Are you looking for the best Vietnamese restaurants in Paris's 13th arrondissement ? It must be said that there is no shortage of them in this district, and the choice can sometimes be difficult. Among our tried and tested gems, we reveal the restaurant Comme au Vietnam, which has many qualities to seduce us.

Although located on the famous Avenue de Choisy, this Vietnamese restaurant, close to the Place d'Italie, is a little removed from the nerve center of Chinatown. Which, perhaps, makes it a little less crowded than the others. Let's face it, eating in a 13th arrondissement restaurant often rhymes with eating in the company of your neighbors. While the Asian community doesn't necessarily take kindly to this canteen-style proximity, it's not necessarily the case for everyone who has come from further afield to enjoy authentic cuisine in a charming setting.

One of the best things about this restaurant is that reservations are possible. This is not the case with many of the neighborhood's restaurants, which are always full and where you generally have to queue when you arrive for lunch or dinner. It has to be said that Comme au Vietnam is spacious. In addition to a terrace, the restaurant has 3 differently decorated rooms. This means that groups of friends or families can organize themselves to arrive in herds without finding themselves without sufficient seats available. The decor is meticulous and the atmosphere is tropical.

Like ordinary customers testing the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised by the smiling, pleasant welcome. Despite a minor oversight that was quickly rectified, service was both professional and prompt. A good point, too, as we sometimes find ourselves rushed elsewhere.

Here, as you'd expect, we'll be serving well-known Vietnamese specialties such as Pho, bo bun, Banh Cuon steamed ravioli and Banh Xeo Vietnamese pancakes. Comme au Vietnam is a family-run restaurant that has been around for decades. In charge of the kitchen is Mr Truong.

Before moving to France in 1985, Mr . Truong enjoyed a rich and unusual life in Vietnam. He was successively judochampion , flag-bearer at the Olympic Games, armysergeant and bodyguard to the President of SouthVietnam.

It was with his children in mind , and a desire to pass on to them his love of Vietnamese gastronomy , that he finally donned the apron. Quickly spotting his natural talent in the kitchen, his wife - the real boss, let's face it, -came up withthe idea of opening a restaurant. Together, they set themselves the mission of bringing the richness and finesse of authenticVietnamese cuisine to France , with dishes prepared just as they would be over there, with passion and generosity.

On the menu, we're delighted to find typical dishes rarely found elsewhere. We're talking about cơm thịt nướng chả cua , the Vietnamese dish of stuffed crab, grilled pork, rolled pork and rice. Banh canh, the well-known Vietnamese crab soup, is also on the menu, for example. There's also pork caramel, Vietnamese curry, fried noodles of all kinds, a fine range of bo bun and various pho.

We were seduced by the Pho version with Black Angus beef and the satay version, which we loved and recommend. Accompanied by a generous beef salad and elegant banh cuon, we're well on our way to Vietnam.

Prices range from €7 to €8 for starters, €14 to €20 for main courses and €6 to €7 for desserts, from the typical corn and coconut glutinous rice to gourmet coffees featuring Vietnamese desserts or homemade pastries. We'll admit it, we only had a small 3-color dessert, because we were so full.

This restaurant is for people looking for typical dishes in a beautiful setting, who want to be sure of a place at the table, whether they're with family, a couple or friends. We go there to have a good time, not just to eat well on the run.
