Open in February 2017 in rue Dufrenoy in Paris 16th arrondissement, Ma Goldo owes its name to its founder, Philippe Goldberg, associated with Charles Agniel (former rugby player and owner of Charlot in Deauville).
Together, they came up with a warm place with an irreproachable welcoming and an intimate decorum marked by black and white pictures of Italian stars hanging on the walls.
As for the menu (about to be renewed), we obviously find great Italian classics including a dozen of antipasti (from €8 to €30) including the famous creamy burrata with olive oil and basil, the caprese salad or even the board of Italian charcuterie.
To whet our appetites, we’re served the famous revisited focaccia with a perfectly cooked dough.
What’s next? You can choose among the fifteen recipes of pasta (penne alle gorgonzola, spaghetti and king prawn, linguine alle vongole…), eight pizzas including margherita, Neapolitan, Burrata, Black Truffe, Queen or the signature pizza, “Ma Goldo” based on tomato, mozzarella and chorizo.
For the rest, you also have fish with a cod loin cooked the Sicilian fashion or meat. The biggest meat eaters among you will definitely go for the elephant ear (pan-fried veal steak) or the Marsala veal escalope.
After hesitating for a while so much the offers are tantalizing, we finally order pasta including the incredible spaghetti all tartufo nero topped with genuine truffle shavings.

On the other hand, it’s a shared favorite: the linguine with morels, perfectly al dente and enhanced with a delicious morel sauce. Our taste buds still remember it!

And let’s say it right away, but big appetites will be over the moon since Ma Goldo shows lots of generosity by serving hearty portions unlike some of their peers…
The bonus? Pasta can be gluten-free if asking.
For sweet-toothed patrons, we can only advise you to end your meal with the homemade tiramisu, as generous as creamy, just as we like!
For the rest, Ma Goldo also offers a homemade Pana Cotta served with red berries coulis or the Affogato (expresso and a scoop of vanilla ice cream).
And to go along these dishes, Ma Goldo bet on quality vintages including a red wine from Puglia, very coveted that night and an exquisite Sicilian red wine.
Today, Ma Goldo includes a large and strong clientele of regulars who would have love to keep this address just for them. Yes, but thanks to the hearty and delicious cuisine, the success of Ma Goldo has gone over the borders of the 16th arrondissement, becoming unquestionably the new HQ of the Italian gastronomy in the western part of Paris!
