Roasted French poultries, friendly atmosphere, incredible menus at a price that defies all competition, this is not a dream, here is grill house Coquin!

Set in the upper Ménilmontant, grill house Coquin has been nestling here since the end of summer. Comfortably seated at the corner of rue Ménilmontant and rue des Amandiers, in a wonderful venue that includes several more at the end of a beautiful corridor open onto a big room bathed in light, the grill house has it all to delight local poultry fans.

As soon as you get in, you are greeted by the beautiful poultries, slowly roasting on the skin. It whets the appetite, and we are so drooling we need to browse the menu instantly. And what a delight to see it is very affordable, available for lunch throughout the week and at weekends: €10 for the menu including starter-main course-dessert, you read it well!

And if you think affordable means you should forget about quality, you are wrong: at Coquin, poultries are as cheeky as they are French and as local as possible. On the menu then, 6 starters including the delicate deviled egg with poultry broth, roasted vegetables, and the delicious roasted eggplants; 3 main courses – chicken thigh, pork belly or roast of the week – and 2 desserts.

Off the menu, a few extra meat cuts, a prime rib of beef and a roast beef, and several sizes of chicken from Normandy to enjoy depending on your appetite and craving: thigh (€7), half a chicken (€13) and whole chicken (€24), all coated in mustard for a genuine and authentic taste of old-fashioned cuisine.

And let us tell you now, this half-chicken has been one of the best poultries we have had at the restaurant in a long time. Juicy, tender meat, crispy skin, perfect sauce, great seasoning; the best of grilled food we enjoyed with a side of well-stirred baby potatoes (€3).

Note on Sundays, the grill house serves a great brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and we have been told a speakeasy bar opened in the basement and serves many fantastic cocktails, I am just saying. Anyway, if you happen to be looking for a friendly location serving simple, healthy and flavorful food, head to Coquin!
