Coronavirus: museums, restaurants, movie theaters... key dates for their reopening

As France is being cautious to avoid a third wave, the reopening calendar of public facilities have been altered. What opens when? Movie theaters, museums, restaurants, theaters, bars and even nightclubs, keep reading to find out more.

In France, the health situation improving enables to see light on the horizon, a possible lockdown exit that will proceed progressively. Even though Emmanuel Macron's goal of 5,000 new coronavirus cases per day goal will not be met, lockdown will be lifted on December 15, just as planned. When will public facilities reopen? What reopens when? Here are the key dates.

November 28, 2020:

In Paris, by department stores, lockdown did not get the better of the traditional Christmas windows. And for good reason since stores were allowed to reopen from November 28, 2020. Beyond stores, it also included beauty salon and hair salons. To this day, services in places of worship were also allowed to resume with a gauge limited to 30 people. Gauges instated are yet not moved upwards past December 15, 2020.

During a new televised address, French President Emmanuel Macron has announced stores and home services could resume starting Saturday November 28, 2020 in the morning. Yet, stores are still to comply with a reinforced health protocol.

December 15, 2020:

There is ultimately no extra reopening on December 15, 2020. Yet, trips between regions are allowed again all over the country and curfew has been instated.

This Thursday January 7, Prime Minister confirmed during a press brief the restrictions implemented in arenas. Like any other public facilities, the issue of crowds returning to stadiums will be "reassessed on January 20, 2021" given the evolution of the health situation allows it.

Mid-February, 2021:

Hard blow for gyms, restaurants, cafés, bars, clubs are they are to remain closed for another while. This Thursday January 7, Jean Castex said they will not reopen before mid-February - and only - if conditions are met. Jean Castex intended to be optimistic, betting on reopening bars and restaurants past mid-February. But according to Le Point, they will more likely open from Easter, naming around April 6, 2021.
