After the best baguette in Paris, it's time for the best croissant in the capital! On Monday, May 15, 2023, the Paris bakers' union unveiled the list of bakeries where to find and enjoy the best butter croissants. So, in which districts should you go to taste them? Here is the ranking!
The croissant, symbol of French culinary know-how par excellence, is on the rise. For several years now, the croissant has been reinvented thanks to the sometimes overflowing creativity of certain bakers. But for many, the butter croissant remains THE reference; the pastry that we like to enjoy without any complex at breakfast. In fact, the croissant is the most consumed pastry in France!
But then, which Parisian bakeries offer the best butter croissants? The answer was provided by the Greater Paris bakers' union, which unveiled, on Monday 15 May, the 2023 ranking of the best Charentes-Poitou PDO butter croissant competition of the Greater Paris bakers. Out of 144 entries, 119 croissants made by bakers from the four departments of Greater Paris (75, 92, 93 and 94) were tasted and judged.
And the result is clear: the best butter croissant in the Greater Paris region is found in the 19th arrondissement, more precisely at the Chez Meunier bakery. Eric Teboul won the first prize of the contest, with a curved croissant that seduced the whole jury!
On the second place of the podium, we find Thierry Rabineau of the Boulangerie Moderne, located in the 5th district of the capital. Finally, the bakery M. Jacques, in the 11th district, takes the 3rd place of the ranking. 12 other Parisian bakers appear in this top 20 of the best Charentes-Poitou PDO butter croissants in Greater Paris.
