Jewels enthusiasts can meet at Paris Musée des Arts Décoratifs for a very beautiful exhibition running from March 7 to July 1, 2018. For 4 months, the Parisian museum displays the exhibition Bijoux d’artistes, de Picasso à Jeff Koons [The Artists as Jewelers, from Picasso to Jeff Koons], coming from Diane Venet’s private collections.
For 30 years now, Diane Venet collects artists’ jewels and tends to understand the process of each jewel, their stories and keeps the memories of her meeting with artists when it was possible, precious pieces of advice she shared in 2011 in her book “The Artists as Jewelers, from Picasso to Jeff Koons”.
About six years later, the objects of study of the book “The Artists as Jewelers” are displayed in a chronological and thematical order: Alexander Calder, Marx Ernst, Salvador Dali, Niki de Saint-Phalle, Roy Lichtenstein, Louise Bourgeois and even Jeff Koons, Anish Kapoor and Orland, all these artists “tried” themselves with jewels mostly seen as works of art/sculptures to wear than the jewels supposed to enhance the body.
We’re looking forward to discovering these artists’ jewels/works of art!
