What a success, the "The World of Banksy: The Immersive Experice" has reopened at the Espace Lafayette-Drouot is back after closing for months over the health crisis and restrictions. Meet from June 1 to December 31, 2021 to (re)discover - given the health conditions allow it - this incredible exhibition taking us on a very beautiful, and enchanting journey with Banksy, the street master. On the menu, 100 works unveiled on 1200sqm. A true delight for street art fans!
Since his debuts, Banksy is fascinating and creates striking works as beautiful as committed also because of his mysterious aspect. World-famous street artist, no one knows who hides behind this pseudonym even though many people try to uncover his secret.
Today, thousands of people want to see and take pictures of the artist’s countless mural paintings scattered across the world. From London to New York without forgetting Paris… Banksy is everywhere!
The experience starts in the lowest part of the space with some Banksy works from private collections. For instance, we have "Gangsta Rat" as well as "Consumer Jesus" and "Toxic Mary" cleverly twisting religion.
Upstairs, we have the unmissable "Kissing Coppers" illustrating the famous kiss between two British policemen as well as "Turf War" where Winston Churchill is turned into a punk icon with a green Mohawk.
Then, more impressive mural reproductions of Banksy made here by a dozen street artists from all over the world. The latter worked for a month day and night to recreate these fantastic (real size) murals in the different corners of the Espace Lafayette-Drouot!
Then, we travel to New York with "Waiting in Vain" and "The street is in play", then to London with "No Ball Game" and "Slave Labour', iwthout forgetting Paris with the little girl covering a swastika as well as the work made on the Bataclan doors following the tragic terror attacks in 2015.
We also loved the reproductions of several Banksy works in Bethleem and the famous Walled Off Hotel open in 2017 a few steps from the wall.
For a perfect immersion, the installation also plays in the background police siren (New York area) or helicopter buzzing (Bethleem).
All in all, "The World of Banksy - The Immersive Experience" offers us a very beautiful art journey throughout the unique, committed and subversive world of Banksy. A piece of advice, don't think twice and go discover this very beautiful installation about Banksy! Meet at the Espace Lafayette Drouot starting June 1, 2021.
