Do you know the Hôtel de la Marine? Let's discover this restored treasure of Parisian heritage, enthroned on the Place de la Concorde!

The Place de la Concorde is gradually regaining its former splendor. It has to be said that, with the various renovation projects on the surrounding buildings, this beautiful panorama was for a long time marred by scaffolding. Now it's a thing of the past! Now it's time to discover theHôtel de la Marine, next door to theHôtel de Crillon.

Following the departure of the Naval Staff in 2015 from this monumental venue, renovation work began in 2017. The aim? To open theHôtel de la Marine to the general public. The courtyard of honor and its galleries are now freely accessible, becoming a highlight of your Parisian strolls, while paying tour routes allow you to immerse yourself in the History of this monument and the city.

As soon as you enter, let yourself be seduced by the new glass roof designed by architects Hugh Dutton & Associés. Three different tours take you on a journey of discovery through this Parisian heritage. A short tour takes you through the 19th-century ceremonial rooms and the loggia.

A historical tour plunges you into the heart of the 18th century through the intendant's apartments. An immersive experience is also planned in Madame Thierry de Ville d'Avray's apartments.

The third visit is to the former Garde-Meuble tapestry gallery and the Naval Maritime Operations Center room, home to the Al Thani Collection. As the exhibitions unfold, you'll discover some 6,000 works from Antiquity to the present day in this private collection.

Throughout your visit, whatever route you choose, you'll be accompanied by the Confident, an innovative connected headset offering a unique immersive experience. These headphones offer a binaural sound experience and interact with the mediation of the rooms. The sound is triggered automatically depending on where you are, and gives you the impression of being back in the life of the Court of the Age of Enlightenment, with melodies, discussions, characters and the sounds of life.

Culinary heritage is also in the spotlight, with three gourmet venues on the menu to delight your taste buds. The first is Mimosa, a restaurant designed by Jean-François Piège. Café Lapérouse on the first floor, and Musiam by Ducasse Culture on the second floor.

This phenomenal restoration project has undoubtedly enabled us to rediscover the hotel's former volumes and uncover numerous traces of decoration dating back to theAncien Régime.

The craftsmen were keen to apply period methods to enhance these treasures. We discover panelling in the gilded cabinet, ancient Rococo and Neoclassical decorations with well-preserved woodwork, overdoors and fireplaces. Faux marble on baseboards, paintings on shutters and trellis and rose motifs can also be seen here and there.

The Hôtel de la Marine also boasts a wealth of period furniture. Visit Mobilier national, the Louvre, Arts et Métiers, the Musée des Arts décoratifs, the Château de Versailles and the Manufacture de Sèvres have all deposited 250 pieces of original furniture, objects and fabrics to furnish the rooms of the building.
