For the first time, the Chapelle Expiatoire takes part in the “European Garden Event” with a guided tour about “History of a garden, remembrance of Europe” to be discovered from June 1 to 3.

The “European Garden Event”, a national manifestation held by the Minister of Culture and Communications to make discover the richness and the diversity of our parks and gardens comes to the Chapelle Expiatoire set in full heart of the Louis XVI square, in Paris 8th arrondissement! The theme of this edition is: “the Europe of Gardens”. It’s naturally that the Chapelle, managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux (CMN) offers you to take part in visit about “History of a garden, remembrance of Europe”.

Dating from 1816, the Chapelle Expiatoire has been erected in memory of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. It is set on a former garden that later became the Madeleine graveyard. If it holds many corpses from the Revolution, be rest assured, it kept its wonderful and varied gardens!
These guided tours on this upcoming June 1, 2 and 3 offer you to discover and learn more about their evolution in the course of time…

A summer playful, historic and instructive visit ahead.
