Acrobatic spinning top, traditional, French, Mexican... Yes, you will have understood, the spinning top is in the spotlight for the 12th edition of the spinning top festival of the world of Marines at the beginning of February 2023. This year, it is the Mexican spinning top which is in the honor, with the special arrival of an association of spinning top aficionados straight from Mexico.
On the program, a large exhibition of spinning tops, yo-yos and wooden diabolos, to learn more about the history of the spinning top and these traditional games used throughout the world. But also, initiation workshops, to discover how to make a spinning top with its thread or to make your own spinning top and learn to throw it like a pro! Besides, once you master the technique, the spinning top contests are waiting for you on Saturday February 4th and Sunday February 5th at 3pm: everyone can participate and you can always try to win the prize!
If you prefer to be inspired by spinning top enthusiasts, don't miss the demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday, February 4 and 5, with acrobatic spinning top sessions, spinning top tightrope walking or yo-yo and diabolo demos! You'll be able to see a lot of original spinning tops.
The festival is almost entirely free, only the initiation and spinning top making workshops require a small participation of 3 € per person. It takes place in the Georges Pompidou hall of Marines from 10am to 6pm every day, the entrance is free for everyone! To restore you, a refreshment bar is even planned on the spot, it proposes sweet and salted pancakes made house.
