Fête de la Science 2025: program of events in Versailles (78)

The town of Versailles, in the Yvelines department, is going into scientific mode: discover the tours and workshops on offer during the Fête de la Science, from October 3 to 13, 2025.

Who hasn't heard of Versailles? Thanks to its rich history and famous château, this town in the Yvelines region of France attracts both French citizens and visitors from all over the world. But there's more to Versailles than its royal past. The town also looks to the present and the future, as demonstrated by these not-to-be-missed scientific events this autumn!

From October 3 to 13, 2025, curious people of all ages are invited to take part in a variety of events in Versailles. The town is taking part in the latest edition of the Fête de la Science. This major event is held every year in autumn, in many towns across France.

The aim of this event is to introduce the general public to the various scientific disciplines, major projects and discoveries made by French researchers, and - perhaps - to inspire new vocations in the younger generation. For ten days, hundreds of places of learning will be opening their doors to the public.

Guided tours, games, experiments, lectures, workshops: everything is done to make science accessible, and fun! Discover what awaits you at Versailles.

On the Spice Route: Scents and Flavors
A moment of discovery blending theoretical insights with a hands-on workshop. Where do the spices we know come from? Why do some of their aromas and flavors move us so deeply?
This workshop will guide you through the origins and cultural history of spices, as well as how the olfactory and gustatory systems they activate work. A creativity session will let you craft your own scented sachet.
Participation requirements:
• Target audiences: 11–15 years, 15–18 years, 18–25 years, 25 years and older
• Conditions: Booking required

Visits, hands-on experiments, demos and math games in physics, chemistry and math at the Science Campus on October 10
Materials celebrating at GEMaC
Doing physics at GEMaC means crafting new materials. It’s a bit like our researchers and engineers are cooking up atoms. It also means examining them up close and from every angle to check what makes them unique and what they might be used for. On the occasion of the Science Festival, we invite you to meet us around our machines and enjoy hands-on workshops:
- diamond growth recipes
- Fluorescence is pretty, but here it mainly helps us understand materials
- the mystery of marshmallow crystals
- can a train levitate?
- can an atom be seen, or why do our samples end up with holes?
Finally, and exclusively, the GEMaC exhibition with a big Art component will bring you to the heart of astonishing phenomena through images captured by our scientists during everyday experiments in our lab.

- Fun Chemistry: candy molecules, odor lottery, hydrogen car, batteries, elephant toothpaste
- Board game on eco-friendly materials, the climate mural
- Exhibition and experiments on egg chemistry
Versailles Mathematics Laboratory (LMV)
- Exhibition of the 2025 BD contest winners "Maths in my Kitchen," linked to the Science Festival theme "Savory Science"
- Game of professions related to mathematics
- Workshop on constructing regular polyhedra and the cutting of Möbius strips

• Conditions: Free admission
Hours: Saturday, October 10 — 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
