The Bubble, the affordable and healthy bubble tea in the 16th district

At number 114 of the avenue Victor Hugo, in the 16th district, stands The Bubble, a café with a terrace seen from the outside, which reveals as soon as the door is passed a store dedicated to bubble tea, with its futuristic decor, its red neon lights and its giant mirrors.

At the counter, it's Amandine and Anthony, both employees at The Bubble, who are busy preparing, mixing, serving bubble tea with the flavors of the season. Yes, because every quarter the menu changes, "we elaborate our recipes according to the fruits of the season" explains Maxime, the creator of the concept. On the menu? Two bubble tea options: the first one is fruity, refreshing with the timeless fruity green tea passion, mango-passion syrups and babo balls with two flavors. The second is the gourmet option of bubble tea, to be sipped "hot or cold" says Amandine, for a regressive effect, like the Macanoix with macaroon and hazelnut syrups, black tea, milk and tapioca pearls.

There are also super lattes with ingredients known to be excellent for health, such as matcha, spirulina, turmeric... "The goal was to offer a healthier alternative to classic bubble teas, which are often too sweet," says Maxime, who wanted to open the store at the end of November 2022 in the 16th arrondissement, where there are few bubble teas. The three waiters use Monin syrups, French products with little sugar, to make their drinks with tapioca pearls and finally, they are right: it tastes like drinking an Iced Tea (for the fruity ones) or a Starbucks, but much less sweet (for the milky ones).

There are also iced mochis on the menu: a special mention for the black sesame one, very tasty, or the cherry blossom one, as sweet as a cloud. There are also more classic flavors: vanilla, mango-passion, matcha... As well as more traditional drinks with hot chocolates, iced coffees and other espressos. A little novelty on the menu: this season, bubble tea is also available in a savory version at The Bubble, with the surprising Bubble Soup with lemongrass, coconut milk and tapioca pearls simmered in a hot Thai broth.

The Bubble is a new way of making bubble tea, witheco-responsibility as the core value of the concept. When you buy a tea, you have the choice between the cardboard cup (size S or M) or the reusable flask in the shape of a bear, a nod to the plastic bears Bearbrick from the Japanese company Medicom Toys. Moreover, The Bubble encourages you to bring back the flask once bought (3,50 € in addition to the bubble tea), each time you come to the store to get a 50 cts discount on each bubble tea at the cash desk!
