In the bustling sweet food scene of Paris, many have tried their hand at the donut, but few have truly mastered it. Luckily, for over 10 years now (!), Boneshaker Donuts has been setting the standard from its spot in the Sentier district, in the heart of the 2nd arrondissement, consistently delivering high-quality treats topped with shiny glaze.
A pioneering spot that has since become a trusted classic, still unmatched today against large standardized chains. Because here, we're not talking about mass-produced rings — this is about genuine American donuts, chunky, homemade, and downright indulgent.
Behind the counter, Amanda, an American pastry chef with a big smile and a charming accent, embodies the soul of the place: a warm, welcoming hospitality styled in true American fashion—spontaneous, generous, and free from forced charm. And at Boneshaker Donuts, the recipes are authentic and made fresh all day long! The donuts are crafted fresh and deserve that respect—trust Amanda to deliver exactly that.
The permanent range at this shop offers approximately a dozen well-established options: classic glazed, cinnamon rolls, sugar-cinnamon, oat milk vanilla, speculoos, homemade granola... Some creations are filled, while others are simply glazed (meaning “glazed” — or coated in a shiny layer). The texture is soft and almost bread-like, moist just right.
Next to the pillars, a monthly menu that’s all about creative freedom—very American in spirit, and delightfully decadent in execution. For January: peanut butter, pecan praline, popcorn, mocha, pistachio, and even a kind of cronut filled with frangipane (a nod to the Epiphany month!). And of course, topped off with an array of wild toppings—whole popcorn, pistachio bits, marshmallow, caramelized sugar forming a crunchy shell…
For the month of February (Mardi Gras included), the shop rolls out a tempting lineup featuring a raspberry-filled heart-shaped beignet, a sriracha-raspberry-white chocolate donut, and a delightful pumpkin cake inspired by pumpkin pie, all topped with a spiced glaze. No holding back here!
Of course, you can sit down and enjoy your donut with a hot beverage, fully embracing the sweet moment. As for pricing, expect to pay between €4 and €6 for a donut or a pastry. Is it a bit pricey? Maybe. But these treats are quite generous—one is usually enough!—and beautifully sweet, just like any classic donut worth its salt. So, really, it’s a matter of perspective!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
