Following a prefectural order, fireworks are banned in Essonne until July 15. The city of Évry-Courcouronnes has therefore had to cancel the activities planned for July 14 at Parc de la Dame du Lac, as well as the fireworks display.
However, the events planned for July 13 will go ahead. Join us on July 13 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Boulevard des Coquibus for the republican parade, featuring an exhibition of vehicles belonging to the security forces, emergency services and armed forces. Then, head to Square Jean-Paul II for the traditional firefighters’ ball, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
For all French people, the July 14 festivities are an event not to be missed under any circumstances. A military parade, fireworks, a street dance—anything goes when it comes to celebrating this very special day. As you probably know, July 14 is marked by the memory of the storming of the Bastille in 1789, a symbol of the end of absolute monarchy. July 14 is also the Fête de la Fédération in 1790, which marked the unity of the French nation.
This highly symbolic date for the French Republic is commemorated every year across the country with popular entertainment and a welcoming atmosphere for the whole family. The city of Evry-Courcouronnes is one of the municipalities in the Île-de-France region hosting a wide range of events!
