The National Holiday, as every year, on July 14. A quick historical note: this date refers to the Storming of the Bastille, the famous royal prison, on July 14, 1789. That day, five cannons seized in the morning at the Invalides were placed in front of the Bastille by the French Guards. Around 5 p.m., the Bastille garrison surrendered and Parisians, who had come to stock up on gunpowder and bullets, then seized the Bastille themselves. The celebration also nods to the Fête de la Fédération in 1790, as the capture of the Bastille had been ignored, if not shunned, by the country’s top authorities.
Now that we've covered this quick slice of history, it's time to discover what's in store for you during the Fête Nationale 2026 in Pontault-Combault. This year again, the celebrations kick off the night before, on 13 juillet 2026, so you can enjoy your day off after the party!
On Monday, July 13, join the traditional firefighters' ball starting at 8 p.m. at the firehouse (1, rue de l'epinette). Dancing and activities, food and drinks, and DJ are on the program.
The evening will continue at l'étang du Coq, which will welcome you at 11 p.m. for a new sky show! This year, the fireworks make way for a spectacular drone show, where 400 drones will fly over the lake to craft a magical, colorful choreography. Free admission.
