This year, drones are taking center stage across the region, and current events are giving them their moment in the sun. In response to drought and the fire risk, several Île-de-France prefectures have banned or limited fireworks, such as in the Essonne (91), where they are prohibited from July 7 to July 15, or in Seine-et-Marne (77) in certain high-risk zones. As a result, many towns are cancelling their pyrotechnic displays (see our list of fireworks canceled in Île-de-France). Without sparks or embers, light ballet performances have become an appealing alternative, sometimes on their own and sometimes in conjunction with a fireworks show that remains. From Seine-et-Marne to the Seine-Saint-Denis (93), and even at the Champ de Mars in Paris, they pace the evenings of the July 13 and 14, 2026. For a complete picture, see also our guide to the July 13 and 14, 2026 fireworks in Île-de-France.
The phenomenon captivates as much with its visual magic as with its versatility. When they aren’t replacing the fireworks, drones often elevate the show: as at the Château de Versailles, at Parc Astérix, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower (where 1600 drones accompany the twelve pyrotechnic tableaux on July 13) or at Disneyland Paris, whose July 14 show is indeed planned, even though its pyrotechnic portion remains subject to a prefectural decree in Seine-et-Marne. Elsewhere, some municipalities go all in on these luminous swarms, as with Carré Sénart, which has entrusted its aerial creation to Groupe F. Fire department balls, republic picnics, and banquets often accompany the festivities: here is our pick, town by town.
