Looking for truly delicious Christmas logs from a patisserie? Le Jardin Sucré definitely has what you need. This year, the establishment we love so much for its delicious, perfectly balanced creations is offering four designs inspired by the forests of the Chevreuse Valley.
Pastry chefs Mélanie L'Héritier and Arnaud Mathez, French macaron champions in 2014, take us on a forest walk through Christmas logswhose designs now pay homage to the landscapes of their native land. And frankly, it's a success! Each log features organic shapes and textures reminiscent of nature, with a small detail that makes all the difference: the iconic Jardin Sucré flower delicately placed on one side. Head to Rue de Courcelles in the 17th arrondissement or Cernay-la-Ville in the Yvelines to get your hands on these gems.
Our real favorite this year: the vanilla, pear, and almond log. A moist vanilla biscuit combined with salted butter caramel, almond and vanilla praline, pear confit, and a light Madagascar vanilla cream. We love this combination, which marries the freshness of pear with the sweetness of vanilla. It's perfectly balanced, neither too sweet nor too heavy, exactly what you want to round off a hearty festive meal. The pear confit adds a fruity touch that contrasts nicely with the richness of the almond praline, while the salted butter caramel brings the whole thing to life. A real success that we recommend without hesitation.
Another favorite from the selection: the blueberry and cream cheese log, reminiscent of cheesecake. With its Nantes biscuit, vanilla cream, almond streusel, wild blueberry confit, and light cheesecake mousse, it takes us right back to childhood. We loved it! It's indulgent, just tart enough, and the light cheesecake texture makes all the difference. The wild blueberries add a touch of tartness that perfectly balances the sweetness of the cream cheese, and the almond streusel adds a welcome crunch. We fell in love with it, and we bet you will too!
For fans of the brand, the pistachio and orange blossom version remains one of our favorites. It follows the same recipe as their famous signature tart with a soft biscuit, sweet pastry, pistachio ganache, pistachio praline, and light orange blossom cream. This combination has become legendary since the patisserie opened in 2012, and with good reason: it's hard to resist the perfect pairing of Sicilian pistachios and delicate orange blossom. The pistachio ganache is generous, the praline adds character, and the orange blossom enhances the whole with its distinctive floral note. A timeless classic that always makes an impression on the Christmas table.
Chocolate lovers are not forgotten with the chocolate and buckwheat log. Here, you'll find a moist chocolate biscuit accompanied by chocolate streusel, salted butter caramel, buckwheat praline, and light chocolate mousse. The little extra that makes it a hit: this 70% chocolate from Brazil and the Dominican Republic was custom-made by Mélanie and Arnaud with Maison Valrhona. Suffice to say, this is a serious dessert, with a rustic touch provided by the buckwheat, which sets it apart from the ultra-classic versions. The buckwheat praline adds a surprising dimension reminiscent of Breton galettes, and the salted butter caramel ties it all together deliciously. For fans of intense chocolate, this is the log for you.
But that's not all! La Chocolaterie du Jardin Sucré also releases its Christmas treats, and frankly, we can't resist them. Jimmy Choco, a dark or milk chocolate bar filled with pecan and cinnamon praline and candied orange, is already one of our favorites. Praline hazelnuts coated in dark chocolate and filled with homemade praline made with French hazelnuts are the kind of treat you can't stop snacking on. Not to mention the dark chocolate-coated orangettes and the limited edition pecan and cinnamon Christmas spread. The latter definitely deserves a place in your cupboard for those gourmet December mornings.
Le Jardin Sucré also offers an Advent calendar that's a change from the industrial versions found everywhere. This year, the company is reinventing the tradition with 25 mini dark and milk chocolate flower bars filled with exclusive combinations. Behind each window is a real gourmet surprise, not just a random piece of chocolate. Let's be honest, this is the kind of calendar you keep for yourself rather than giving away!
Mélanie and Arnaud, who have been working together for around ten years, are committed to creating seasonal recipes that are low in sugar and intense in flavor. After opening their first shop in 2012 at the age of 22 in the heart of the Chevreuse Valley, they conquered Paris in 2017 with their boutique on Rue de Courcelles. Since then, their pistachio and orange blossom tart has become the house's signature dessert. The duo continues to enhance classics with exceptional ingredients such as Madagascar vanilla and Sicilian pistachios.
