Are you familiar with Chou de Chanorier, a restaurant nestled in the heart of Château Chanorier in Croissy-sur-Seine, in the Yvelines (78)? It’s here that Charlie Anne, a 2025 Top Chef finalist and twice awarded by Guide Michelin inspectors, has put her culinary skills to the test, creating a menu deeply rooted in her Norman heritage. Supported by Bistrots Pas Parisiens, the group founded by Hakim Gaouaoui and Stéphane Rotenberg, this spot definitely warrants a visit.
Already known for its lineup of restaurants including the Bistrot Top Chef in Suresnes, Là-Haut, Splash in Asnières, Splash, Micheline, Micheline, Coco Rocco—the first Italian-themed bistro of the Parisian suburbs in Puteaux—or Podium, the group now expands beyond the Hauts-de-Seine to explore the Yvelines region. And their choice of venue is no coincidence. The Château Chanorier is a stunning 18th-century estate built for the Le Bas de Courmont family during Louis XV’s reign. Today, it houses a Museum of Impressionism called La Grenouillère and is surrounded by lush gardens perfect for a leisurely stroll. It’s within the bright, glass-enclosed space of this historic building that the new restaurant makes its debut.
And I can tell you right away, we were pleasantly surprised right from the moment we arrived. On one side, a massive terrace opens onto lush lawns and tree-lined paths, basking in gentle light and a sense of peaceful solitude. Just a few minutes from Paris, yet it feels worlds away. Inside, a stylishly refined decor balances tradition and modernity. Wall tapestries, velvet furniture, playful nods to Versailles iconography—the character of the place is revealed in every detail. In the evening, a piano adds an extra touch to this unique setting, and honestly, the atmosphere elevates to a new level. For winter, the "Chourchevel" concept injects a fun mountain vibe: eight ski lifts nestled among trees and artificial snow, welcoming small groups of 4 to 6 for an outdoor mountain-style dinner featuring fondue, tartiflette, or hot mulled wine.
As for the winter outdoor dining menu, there's a hearty tartiflette for two made with Charmeuse potatoes, smoked bacon, and farmstead Reblochon cheese, or a wholesome fondue featuring Fribourg black milk vacherin and Swiss Gruyère cheese. Charcuterie and smoked salmon boards also round out the offerings, all paired with Savoie wines. For those with a big appetite, a 1.1 kg ribeye steak served with homemade fries and morille mushroom cream sauce is available à la carte for 65 euros per person.
During our visit, we took a closer look at the menu crafted by Charlie Anne. And we were pleasantly surprised. Although the setting appears quite elegant, the restaurant offers a lunch special that's both attractive and affordable, priced at €24.99 for a starter and main or main and dessert. For those seeking a full experience, the complete menu is available at €29.99. It’s a compelling alternative to the nearby bistros, especially since everything here is homemade and of high quality. The tasting menu at €49 includes an amuse-bouche, starter, main course, and dessert. There’s really no reason to hesitate before stepping through these doors.
After an enticing appetizer that played with textures in a clever illusion, we sampled the delectable stuffed macaroni filled with seasonal mushrooms, artichokes, foie gras, and truffle cream, all draped in a rich parmesan sauce. We also started with a house-made gravlax salmon as our entrée.
For the main course, there’s the braised beef cheek, meltingly tender, served with a rich celery and Parmesan risotto, alongside a chestnut-fed baby chicken cooked sous-vide to keep it perfectly moist.
There’s no missing the desserts here: the Chou, a signature giant cream puff filled with light cream, flavored with hazelnut, caramel, and served with pear sorbet, and the poached pear in hibiscus, which offers a refreshing finish to the meal. Keep in mind that the menu changes regularly according to the seasons, so you might not find these dishes every time. Charlie Anne and her executive chef constantly update the offerings to keep your taste buds delighted.
At just 25 years old, Charlie Anne has a resume that commands respect. Originally from Cauvicourt, near Caen, he was turned away by every culinary school in Normandy. He gained experience through apprenticeships and by working with renowned chefs like Stéphane Carbone in Caen and David Toutain in Paris, before making a splash as a finalist on Top Chef 2025, competing against Quentin Mauro. His honest, no-frills style of cooking draws from Norman terroir, infused with a modern touch that perfectly embodies the spirit of Bistrots Pas Parisiens: accessible gourmet cuisine for all.
This spot is especially suited for families, many of whom were there during our visit. With its elegant setting and quality classic cuisine, it also offers a great value for money. It's a place to relax and enjoy a leisurely meal, a peaceful retreat just a short distance from the bustling nearby areas.
