The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are one of the highlights of September in Paris and the Île-de-France region. This cultural event, which takes place all over Europe, invites us to enjoy a fine program of visits, often free of charge, andoriginal activities in museums, monuments, institutions, châteaux and other places that make up our heritage. You'll usually find this great offer on the third weekend in September. This year, the 42nd edition of the Journées du Patrimoine is scheduled for the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025, and for the occasion, a fabulous program awaits you in Paris and the Ile-de-France region.

Come and discover this health facility, the second in Suresnes, built in 1931 under the aegis of Henri Sellier as part of his policy to promote hygiene and preventive medicine. Built by the architects Maurey and Maroille (municipal architect), its design was a first in the early 20th century.

After the medical center, the Darracq crèche was built just behind it, thanks to a bequest from Alexandre Darracq, a Suresnois industrialist. The 60-bed facility was built in accordance with the testator's wishes. Disproportionate at the time, it included a nursery for boarding children. Built between 1919 and 1956 on a 34-hectare site, the cité-jardins de Suresnes was intended to be a modern city of 8 to 10,000 inhabitants. Its urban planning and architecture are characterized by perspectives, different traffic scales and the use of rich, varied materials. Elegance and attention to detail are omnipresent in the buildings, with greenery given pride of place.
This is a complete housing estate where all units are for rent, promoting a social mix and equipped with all the institutions of collective interest necessary for modern urban life.
As part of the European Heritage Days, come and discover the heritage apartment, a former janitor's lodge refurbished and furnished in the style of the 1930s. Work began in 2016 to restore the furnishings and decor to reflect life in social housing in the 1930s. An interior designer was appointed to assist the museum team in restoring volumes, choosing wallpaper and positioning furniture.

Heritage Days 2025 at the Mont Valérien memorial in Suresnes
16 massive reliefs adorn the facade of the Mémorial de la France combattante: what do they represent? What statements do they illustrate? What are the key elements for deciphering these bronzes?
Part of the Mont-Valérien memorial, the Mémorial de la France combattante was commissioned by General de Gaulle, who inaugurated it on June 18, 1960. On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, (re)discover this architectural and memorial project through its 16 sculptures. With their blend of art, architecture and history, they convey a certain vision of the Resistance in mythological, military, republican and religious terms.

Gathering of vintage cars
Many factories and personalities have contributed to the development of car manufacturing in Suresnes, a town with a rich industrial past.
Throughout the weekend, collectors will welcome you to their vehicles, and you'll have plenty of time to ask them questions about these beautiful old cars, some of which were built in Suresnes at the beginning of the 20th century, like the Talbot, Darracq or Le Zèbre.
An exhibition will trace the development of Suresnes' automotive industry since the early 20th century. Many automobile factories developed in the Alto-Séquan area during this period.
