Gatherings over 10 people banned, and celebrations cancelled in Bordeaux. No events over 1,000 people and limited visits in nursing homes in Lyon… Health measures have been growing harder for several days in some big cities, as 12 of them are highly impacted by the resurgence of the coronavirus epidemic.
As the Aix-Marseille area has been put on “maximum alert”, leading to the total closure of bars and restaurants, 11 cities have been put on “reinforced alert”. Among them, cities of Bordeaux, Lyon, Lille, Rennes, Rouen, Grenoble and even Toulouse and Montpellier.
Paris and its inner suburbs (Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne) are on reinforced alert as well. In his weekly address, Health minister Olivier Véran has announced new restrictions for these areas and for Paris, as well as three departments in Ile-de-France.
Among the measures? The anticipated closures of bars at the latest at 10 p.m. starting from September 28. Olivier Véran has said the hour will be decided by the prefect after meeting with the elected representatives.
Other announcements? The closure of gyms, as well as a lower gauge for big events up to 1000 people, on the condition that health protocols are strictly respected, the ban of big declared events such as local or student parties, and the ban of gatherings of over 10 people in public places.
Last but not least, function rooms and community centers are closing from Monday September 28.
