A14 and Saint-Cloud roadworks: 50% discount replaced by free travel

Starting November 16, 2026, the A14 will be free on weekdays, with no subscription required, for vehicles affected by the Saint-Cloud Tunnel diversion. This measure replaces the discount announced in September.

The 50% toll reduction announced in September for the Montesson toll plaza has been replaced by a weekday toll-free measure, with no subscription required, during work on the Saint-Cloud tunnel. The measure takes effect on November 16, 2026.

Why is the Saint-Cloud tunnel closed for nine months?

The summer announcement of the closure for works of the Saint-Cloud tunnel drew sharp reactions. The north tube, which runs from Paris toward the provinces, will remain closed until August 2027, as crews fit it with a new reinforced concrete shell.

This tunnel dates from the 1930s and must be reinforced before the tunnel boring machine for Grand Paris Express Line 15 West begins its work. A necessary passage, to be sure, but one that serves an axis used by tens of thousands of vehicles every day.

In the Yvelines, several voices, starting with those of local elected officials, were calling for the A14 to be made completely free, across the 21-kilometre stretch linking La Défense to Orgeval. A 50% discount had first been announced in September.

What are the new conditions on the A14?

The terms announced on November 5 provide for free travel Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, for eligible light vehicles and motorized two-wheelers. The toll will be waived for travel from Paris toward the provinces from November 16, 2026, until the end of June 2027, and in both directions in July and August 2027. Tolls will still apply on weekends and public holidays. Find out more in our article on free travel on the A14 during the Saint-Cloud works.

Which detour routes off the ring road?

The regional prefecture is urging drivers to plan ahead and, when possible, shift their schedules. Two relief routes are signposted from the ring road.

The first route goes via the RD910 and then the RN118, with an option to connect to the A86, the RN12, and then the A12 and A13 further west. The second route takes the RN13 and then the A14, rejoining the A13 further west as well.

To prevent motorists from diverting into the narrow streets of the municipalities along the route, a restricted-traffic zone will be established by prefectural decree for the duration of the works. The information will be sent to GPS providers—Waze and Google—so they stop directing drivers toward these areas.

What alternatives to public transport exist?

Île-de-France Mobilités says it is prioritizing the quality of service on the rail network, notably lines L, U and N of the Transilien network. On-site support will be provided at the main stations affected.

Additional capacity is also planned on the Express coach lines that run along the A14. The state authority stresses that public transport should be prioritized as much as possible, with the L, N and U lines, and to a lesser extent the RER C, Line J, or local bus networks.
