Starting Saturday March 20, 2021, the 8 Ile-de-France departments – Paris included – are placed in 24/7 lockdown for at least 4 weeks. A measure instated to try and curb a third coronavirus epidemic wave. What are the derogatory motives? Take a stock on trips still possible.

This is official, the third wave is here. As the coronavirus epidemic is surging again in France and the threats of variants make us fear escalation of the spread despite the launch of the vaccination campaign, new measures have been instated. Starting this Saturday March 20, 2021, a 24/7 lockdown has been instated in 16 departments and the entire country must comply with curfew from 7 p.m. Trips are now banned after 7 p.m. and working from home is to be favored, with a few exceptions. A derogatory trip certificate enables to justify the necessity of going out in the event of control.

Trips allowed during lockdown and before 7 p.m.:

  • To go to work or buy necessary supplies to work or going to school

  • To go grocery shopping or buy first-necessity goods

  • For medical reason

  • For pressing family matter

  • To take a breath of fresh air and work out, without time restriction, within a 10-km perimeter around your home

  • To go to a public service or law professional for a process that cannot be completed remotely

  • To go to and come from a place of worship

  • To attend vulnerable people or in precarious situation

  • To take care of children

  • Disabled people (also valid for their assistant)

  • Administrative or judiciary summon

  • General interest mission

  • Long-distance train, plane or bus transport (ticket serves as proof of entitlement)

  • Outings related to pets’ needs within 10km, excluding time limit

Then, what trips are allowed after curfew from 7 p.m.? Derogatory motives remain the same as those known so far. You can go out after curfew for the following reasons:

  • Work-related matter (provided proof from the company)

  • Teaching and training

  • Medical consultation and care that cannot be completed remotely

  • Pressing family matter

  • To attend vulnerable people or in precarious situation

  • To take care of children

  • Disabled people (also valid for their assistant)

  • Administrative or judiciary summon

  • General interest mission

  • Long-distance train, plane or bus transport (ticket serves as proof of entitlement)

  • Short outings related to pets’ needs within 1km

From this moment on necessary stores are no longer allowed to receive people and must close before 7 p.m. You cannot go grocery shopping or collect your takeaway order. Yet, deliveries continue.
