The croissant, emblem of quintessential French culinary know-how, is riding a wave. For several years now, the croissant has been reinvented thanks to the sometimes exuberant creativity of certain bakers. But for many, the butter croissant remains THE benchmark—the pastry we love to savor confidently at breakfast. The croissant is, in fact, the most consumed pastry in France!
So, which Parisian bakeries offer the best butter croissants? The answer was provided by the Syndicat des Boulangers du Grand Paris, which unveiled, on Tuesday, May 12, during the Fête du Pain, the 2026 ranking of the competition for the best butter croissant Charentes-Poitou AOP among bakers of the Grand Paris.
This year once again, numerous croissants were crafted by skilled bakers from the four departments of Greater Paris (75, 92, 93 and 94). They were then tasted and judged with great care. Several criteria were taken into account to crown the overall winner, including flavor, of course, but also the lamination, aroma, and color.
So, drumroll please... the Grand Paris 2026 best butter croissant is right in the capital, more precisely at the Boulangerie du Sentier, located in the 2nd arrondissement.
In second place on the podium, we find BOOM BOulangerie OMnivore, in the Hauts-de-Seine. Finally, the Maison Thevenin in Paris takes the 3rd spot in the rankings.
