From April 19 to May 11, 2025, the NGO Bibliothèques Sans Frontières is counting on you to drop off your books in good condition, which you no longer read or which are gathering dust in your library, so that they can be used by others and travel around the world. Fnac is once again organizing the"La très grande Collecte de livres" operation, to give your books a second life, through its 190 partner stores.
Thanks to your donations, underprivileged populations far removed from culture will benefit from access to reading material. In the space of a decade, over 2 million books have been sent to people in need - the equivalent of a pile of books 180 Eiffel Towers high, making it France's largest book drive. All types of reading material are welcome, including novels, comics, documentaries and children's books in all languages, which are then distributed to schools, associations and libraries involved in solidarity programs.
The NGO also supports thelocal book economy in developing countries, by purchasing books locally. Your books will either join the shelves of a Microbibli set up in a village or neighborhood far from cultural centers to recreate social links, the bag of books offered to a refugee child to help him discover French language and culture, the first personal library of a pupil attending school in a priority zone, or an emergency library.
This year, six retailers are joining the movement: Darty, Nature & Découvertes, Cultura, HOMEBOX, SNCF and Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, and will become collection points!
